Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he enjoyed gambling on numerous card games when he was young. The real improvement in his game began when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest players would regularly challenge one another. He had access into several of the best players in chess. With their help, Howard would hone his strategic thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategy ideas to the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.
Howard Lederer also assisted his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a superb student of poker as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Sin City and play in the World Series of Poker competition. She is one of the greatest female players the poker world has ever seen. Howard Lederer relocated to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and participated in money games for the subsequent 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
