NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
