No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
