Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While competing in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money games?
