NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
