Web poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several variants on the first poker game have been created, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to blackjack than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the dealer rather than each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no concealment or other kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up just before the dealer saying "No more bets." At that instance, both you and the house and of course every one of the different gamblers receive 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you have to either make a call bet or bow out. The call bet’s value is akin to your beginning bet, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your bet goes instantaneously to the house. After the bet comes the face off. If the house does not have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus an amount in accordance with the initial wager. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays money even with your wager and set odds on your call wager. These expectations are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for 2 pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
