No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
